This is my first post on my own branded site. I would be lying if I said that this isn’t one of the scariest things I have done. Before I go on, let me back up a bit to share how I got here…
So, on a cold day in December, 1977 a little girl was born in Squamish, British Columbia. She was the first child to Gary and Leila and she brought amazing joy to them…HAHA…too far back, but hopefully I got your attention!
Seriously now, my coaching journey started as a teenager, when I coached at soccer camps, ringette camps and coached my younger sister’s teams. I love being a coach! It has nothing to do with the saying “Those who can’t, teach!”. I can, but I get so much more coaching than I ever did with my own personal achievements as an athlete, scholar or really anything. Coaching is in my blood and I truly love everything about it.The joy on someone’s face when they get it, or the struggle that they have conquered is what makes my heart skip a beat.
Throughout the years, I always found myself in a coaching role. Whether it was sports, academics, working with teammates one-on-one…coaching drew me in. Throughout my career I have held many roles (Electrician, Millworks Manager, Developer, Manager, Director and more) and in all of these roles, I found a way to be a coach! My professional coaching role didn’t “Officially” begin until 2014 when I was hired as an Internal Agile Coach.
At this point, I was paving my way down my coaching path. I have had the opportunity to attend some amazing training led by leaders in the agile coaching world and for this I am eternally grateful to learn from the best. It has allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t know were possible. It has been challenging, but oh so rewarding.
In 2017, I really started to dive into true coaching and to separate coaching from teaching and mentoring. With doing this I began to look at Professional Coaching, what it is, how to start and if this is something that I want for me. So, in early 2018 I said…Let’s do it! My husband was and is behind me 100%, which has been amazing!
Through this site, I am going to share my experiences good and bad both using the written word and in short videos. Putting myself out there with my website, with the Disrupting Yourself Coaching LLC, asking for clients…all of this is really out of my comfort zone, but here I am and I am here to stay. This is my calling, you are my calling and I am so excited!
Please reach out to me if you have any thoughts or questions. I would love to hear from you regarding suggestions for the website, questions about coaching, signing up for a coaching session and more!
I can’t wait to start this journey with you and Thank you!
